This is a very decent house champagne from this small 5th generation family grower in Les Riceys. There’s no information on the label beyond it being “brut” and a batch number of “LP19”.
It benefits from just a little air and not being too cold in order to open up. The the nose has a fresh almost spicy note to it (I feel that I am, unusually, gettings hints of creamed horesradish!). The palate is quite crisp, cleansing, rounder fruit flavours suggesting I guess a largely pinot noir blend (the producer’s vines are 80% pinot noir, 20% chardonnay according to their website). Towards the finish there is hint of marmite-y yeast which lingers a little on the finish, which is quite long.
Overall this is a very easy-drinking general purpose champagne, competently done without being flashy. It would work well as a party fizz, but also with lighter foods.
