It is to be enjoyed within 7 years from harvest.
Vinified using the traditionnal Burgundy method from grapes harvested on the vineyard best plots, 1809 cuvee is then aged in oak barrels for more than ten months. Ruby in colour, its nose opens on red fruits and roasted aromas. On the palate. it is characterized by an intense candied morello cherries flavour. Its tine tannins ensure an optimal conservation of around 7 years.

1 review for Beaujolais-Villages AOC, 1809, Château de Varennes, 2018
Paul C –
This is a rather nice everyday wine. It needs a few minutes to settle down and lose a bit of banana-y in-your-face-ness.
Then the nose is nice and fruity – dark red, but with hints of ripeness. The palate is quite light, but pleasing, with a balance of fruit and tannin, with a little, but just enough acidity. The finish is clean and drying.
Overall this is a very easy-drinking wine – the tannins make it a food wine rather than stand-alone, and for me this evening it is pairing very nicely with a pizza.
