Chinon AOC, Les Picasses, Domaine Olga Raffault, 2009

Domaine Olga Raffault has been passing down its expertise in crafting Chinon wines for several generations. Olga Raffault dedicated her entire life to these beloved landscapes and always knew how to share her passion for wine. Since Olga’s passing, the estate is now under the stewardship of her granddaughter Sylvie and her husband Eric de la Vigerie. The estate boasts exceptional vineyard parcels in the Savigny-en-Véron region, nestled alongside the Vienne riverbanks. Among them, the “Les Picasses” vineyard stands out, featuring old vines of approximately 50 years, on a moderately steep slope with alluvial clay soil overlaying a chalk limestone base.

Haute-couture Chinon for a hot and sunny vintage that produces a delicate wine with earthy aromas and hints of black fruits and liquorice. The tannins are present yet fine, and subtle notes of plums, violet and tar summoned the feeling or recently showered forest grounds, a true journey in time and space. Though a great drinker nowadays, the keeping power of this wine is great and will greatly reward your patience as well.

This wine pairs excellently with a range of dishes, including red meat, poultry, pasta, and various cheeses.
