The origin of this pear is in Moldova, where the Oksana Xenia was introduced in 1968 which was a cross between the Triomphe de Vienne and the Krier varieties. Xenia is a sweet juicy pear which can be eaten either hard or soft.Xenia is a green pear that turns yellow as it ripens and is known to have quite a long shelf life compared to other varieties.
Pears, are an excellent, healthy part of the diet. They contain fiber, which helps the digestive system work smoothly and may help lower cholesterol levels. They also contain calcium, iron, protein, antioxidants and vitamin C.
