Originally from South East of China, Malaysia, Papua and Australasian territories, the longan was introduced in Reunion Island in 1764 by Joseph-François Charpentier de Cossigny de Palma. There are more than 20 varieties of longan on earth. Longan is an excellent source of vitamin C and potassium, it also contains magnesium and copper.
Longan can be used traditionally in cases of anemia, palpitations, insomnia, dizziness and hypotension.
