Primgold is a golden French apple created in the 1970s by the Georges Delbard nursery in Sarthe, France, from a cross between Golden Delicious and Delcorf to combine refined flavor with excellent storage potential. Its medium to large oval fruit shows a smooth green‑yellow skin at harvest that deepens to a rich golden yellow after cold storage, while the pale flesh stays firm, crisp and juicy with good resistance to browning once sliced
On the palate Primgold delivers a seductive balance of honeyed sweetness, bright acidity and subtle fruity aromas that set it apart from other yellow apples of the season. Thanks to its firm flesh that holds its shape when cooked, this variety is ideal both for fresh eating and for tarts, crumbles, compotes and savory dishes where you want beautiful apple pieces
Primgold keeps very well in the refrigerator for several weeks, up to around three months in optimal conditions, and provides fiber including pectin, vitamins and minerals for a tasty and healthy snack.
