In 1791, Marie Harel created Camembert de Normandie from raw milk by superimposing 5 layers of curd, separated by 40 minutes each to drain during production.
While many Camemberts exist worldwide, true Camembert de Normandie AOC requires Marie Harel’s method and at least 50% Normande cow milk.
This bloomy rind cheese offers a subtle texture with frank, fruity taste ranging from mild to tangy based on aging. Perfect paired with a crisp apple and cider.
Storage: Refrigerate wrapped in cheese paper for up to 2 weeks.
