Reblochon Laitier is a soft, washed-rind cheese produced in the Savoie region of the French Alps. Unlike the fermier (farmhouse) version made on-site in small alpine farms, the laitier style is crafted in dairies using raw cow’s milk. It adheres to the same strict AOP (Appellation d’Origine Protégée) guidelines, ensuring authenticity and regional character.
This round cheese has a thin orange-pink rind and a pale yellow, supple interior. It offers a mild, nutty aroma and a creamy texture that becomes even softer with aging. On the palate, it is delicate yet earthy, with notes of hazelnut and a gentle barnyard hint typical of washed-rind cheeses.
For a regional pairing, enjoy it with a glass of Jacquère-based Apremont wine from Savoie. The wine’s crisp acidity and light floral character cut through the richness of the cheese, refreshing the palate and highlighting its alpine freshness.
