From the celebrated chalk-and-clay slopes of Saint-Véran, at the southern edge of the Mâconnais, this 2023 bottling from Domaine des Arbillons captures the poise and quiet intensity that mark the finest wines of the appellation. It shows a pale, luminous gold in the glass, edged with faint green reflections.
Aromatically, it opens with layers of white peach and crisp pear, lifted by lemon zest and acacia blossom, then deepened by scents of wet stone, fresh hazelnut, and a subtle savory note reminiscent of miso and toasted bread. The palate delivers the umami signature the domaine is known for: creamy and broad in texture, yet held taut by bright acidity, with a saline mineral spine running through a long, mouthwatering finish. Built to reward a few years in the cellar.
