Born from an Australian winemaker’s bold leap, this Alentejo winery crafts award-winning blends of local and international grapes. Sourced from Portalegre’s São Mamede Mountains, it combines old vines (20-25+ years) with native Alentejo grapes, aged in clay ânforas (traditional amphorae) to honour ancient techniques.
This matured red wine balances earthy depth with ripe strawberry and vanilla spice. Vibrant acidity and minerality lead to a lingering finish. Sustainably bottled, it bridges urban innovation and rural tradition through small-batch excellence and partnerships with local growers.
Pair with lamb stew or aged cheeses—a taste of Portugal’s winemaking future, rooted in the past.

1 review for Alentejo DOC, Três Ânforas, Howard’s Folly, 2019
Paul C –
This is a very interesting wine. Decanted after opening (despite the suggestion on the label to do so before opening) for about 3 hours.
The nose is intense: very dark red fruit, dry, earthy, perhaps mushroomy notes.
The palate is complex, fruity (but not in a ripe sweet sense), earthy, mouth-coating smooth tannins, moderate (+) acidity. There is a very long finish on notes of unripe blueberries, earth.
Overall this is an excellent wine, which needs food (some robust Corsican cheese and charcuterie in my case). Definitely a repeat buy.
