The name “Amourous” likely originates from the French word “amoureux”, meaning lovers, perhaps reflecting the love that goes into crafting each wheel of cheese.
Amourous is a soft, bloomy rind cheese that has a creamy, smooth texture and a subtly sweet flavour. Its rind is covered with a fine, velvety bloom.
Serve it at room temperature with a baguette and a glass of Champagne or a light red wine.
For storage, keep this cheese in the refrigerator, preferably in a cheese drawer or a container with some ventilation. It should be eaten within a week of opening.
