Burrata, which means “buttery” in Italian, is a famous cheese from Apulia, the south of Italy, where it is very popular. It was first made by the Bianchini family in the 1920s. Burrata looks like mozzarella on the outside, but inside it is filled with a creamy mixture called stracciatella.
Soft, creamy, and delicate, Burrata is perfect for many dishes. Try it with sliced tomatoes, fresh basil leaves, and a drizzle of olive oil for a burst of flavour. It is also very popular served on top of pasta with simple sauces like tomato sauce, cherry tomatoes, or pesto, adding a rich and creamy touch to the dish.
Store Burrata in the fridge until the best-by date. If you open it but don’t use it all, keep the leftover liquid in an airtight container for a day or two.
