Cabra Transmontano

​Cabra Transmontano DOP is a traditional Portuguese cheese originating from the Trás-os-Montes region in northern Portugal. Crafted exclusively from the raw milk of the indigenous Serrana goat breed, this cheese reflects the area’s rich pastoral heritage. The goats graze on the region’s diverse flora, imparting distinct characteristics to the milk and, consequently, the cheese.

This semi-hard cheese is presented in a cylindrical shape, measuring between 12 to 19 centimetres in diameter and weighing approximately 600 to 900 grams. It features a washed, white rind encasing a firm, white interior dotted with small eyes. The aroma is robust, offering earthy and characteristic goaty notes. On the palate, it delivers an acidulous flavour with pronounced earthy undertones, embodying the rustic essence of the Trás-os-Montes region.
