As gun-suppliers to Napoleon Bonaparte, Frerejean Freres pays a tribute here to their past with this Cuvee des Hussards, named after the late emperor’s cavalry, famous for the use of sabers.
The Champagne combines the best vines of the best plots, with a state-of-art winemaking process, to create a unique cuvee, great from the aperitif to dessert, that is limited to 20000 bottles.
The old vines, Vieilles Vignes, of 40+ years brings concentration and intensity to the wines that are issued from selected plots of the Côtes des Blancs, the epicenter of the Champagne area. In terms of aromas, this Champagne is silky and complex with multiple layers from white flowers to summer fruits, very generous and with a balanced acidity.
Pair it with oysters for a classic, but dare it together with desserts where its low dosage would enhance the fruity or sweet taste of your treats!
