The Wine Cellar Insider: 92/100
The vineyards of the Côte-Rôtie, which is the oldest in the Rhône Valley, are believed to be the original site of grape cultivation in Gaul.
Located on a hillside facing the Rhône, this 16th century estate is still today the largest private estate in this appellation. Aged for 24 months for half in new oak barrels, and in barrels from 1 to 3 years for the other half, the result is a stunning Côte-Rôtie.
The wine has a clear deep red colour with purple highlights, hinting at its quality. It offers a complex nose with expressive black fruit notes, complemented by spicy hints of cinnamon and cloves. On the palate, it’s a generous wine with a fresh structure, culminating in a finish featuring licorice notes. The tannins are elegant and silky, adding to the overall appeal.
Perfect to pair with truffle dishes and cheeses as well or with lamb meat.
