The history of gingerbread goes back a long way… It became popular in Europe in the 14th century, thanks to the monasteries. The recipe has been perfected over the centuries in Alsace, but also in Reims and Dijon.

It has then become a popular delicacy often eaten at festive occasions. Gingerbread is an aromatic cake made with cinnamon, ginger and anis. It is made by Labeyrie, a french group founded in 1946 and renowned for the quality of its products.

Ideal to share as a toast for starter, gingerbread is traditionally eaten with jam and foie gras during the festive days It can also be served on its own as a dessert.
