Originally known as Lamarzelle Figeac, this estate was rebuilt in 1895 after the phylloxera crisis by Mr. Bouchard from northern France. In 1903, he built a château on the property, later turned into a luxury hotel. It changed ownership several times before being acquired by Dourthe in 2005, which continues to improve it. The estate has been consistently recognized as one of the finest Crus in Saint-Emilion. Situated across from the renowned classified growths of Château Figeac and Cheval Blanc, the estate enjoys a remarkable terroir featuring flint-gravel soil and an underlying undulating layer of blue clay.
Pretty deep ruby dress with a complex nose combining aromas of black and red fruits with nice floral notes. After a supple attack, the mouth has both fruity, earthy and mineral notes, with coffee, black cherry, figs, red berries, forest, and cigar box. Very balanced long finish with silky tannins.
This wine pairs beautipiecey with grilled red meat, poultry in sauce, cheeses, and red-fruit desserts.
