Jam, Raspberry – Les Petits Fruits

Tucked away in the heart of the Pyrenees, Les Petits Fruits was founded in 1982 in the small village of Campan, where wild berries thrive in the crisp mountain air. The producer has built its reputation on traditional recipes and meticulous small-batch preparation. Using fruit grown and harvested locally whenever possible, their jams are cooked slowly in copper cauldrons to preserve the natural taste of the fruit. A little-known fact: the area around Campan has long been known for its berry-rich slopes, often foraged by shepherds who would preserve the fruit in sugar for the colder months.

This raspberry jam is thick, bright, and generously textured. The fruit pieces are soft but present, offering a slight resistance that gives way to their natural juiciness. On the nose, it’s unmistakably raspberry—fresh, tart, and a little earthy, with a faint touch of wildflower honey. The taste is intense and vibrant, with a good balance between sweetness and acidity. You can feel the seeds here and there, giving it a rustic, handmade quality. Spread it on warm bread, or let it melt into plain yoghurt.

Pair this jam with a wedge of Tomme de Brebis from the Pyrénées. Its slightly nutty, creamy taste complements the tangy sweetness of the raspberries, and together they create a rich, comforting bite that works just as well for breakfast as it does for a cheese board.
