Canary Islands

Banana , from Canary Islands, Spain (Organic)

Weight: 500

Introduced from East Africa in Canary Islands by the Portuguese in the 16th century, it was then brought by Brother Tomas de Berlanga into the Spanish colony of Hispaniola where it spread into the Americas. The Canary banana is characterized by a bright yellow coloured skin dotted with black stains and yellow-orange pulp. The mild climate of Tenerife allows the banana to stay longer in the plant which makes its sweeter and juicer than its widespread Cavendish siblings.

Food Pairing:

Perfect to be eaten raw, in a fruit salad or in a smoothie
