Vanilla is the fruit of an orchid variety; it grows in the form of a wild vine, and it can reach easily 10 meters in length. When the fruit is harvested, the pod is green. After being left to dry and mature for several months, the pod turns black and, on its surface some wrinkles are formed. Famous aroma comes out during drying process, turning vanilla inone of the most aromatic known spices.
Sourced from Reunion Island, our chosen variety is fully organic and belongs to the most famous ‘Bourbon’ variety originally grown in Reunion Island. It is characterized by a very fleshy and unsplit texture and a nice fragrance of woody undertones.
With a high level of vanillin (between 2 and 3%), expect a soft, full of roundness and very aromatic flavour. In the mouth, feel the elaborate floral aromas and notes of caramel. Our vanilla pods are ideal for desserts and pastries as they add the perfect final touch to any bite – try it out in your next Tarte Tatin, you won’t be disappointed!
