Grapefruit or Citrus paradisi is said to be an American hybrid between the pomelo and the sweet orange. It is an edible berry composed of a dozen sections. The Isle of Beauty variety has thin yellow and pink skin. It grows in bunches or clusters, hence its English name of “grapefruit” and can spend up to 12 months on a tree.
