Green “bell” peppers are native to tropical America and have been growing for more than 9000 years in South and Central American civilizations. Introduced to Asia and Europe via Spanish & Portuguese explorers around 1493, since then new varieties are cultivated across the world.
All of the bell pepper varieties start green and some turn to red or yellow when they ripen. Green pepper california is a variety that maintain its green colour even piecey ripe. They are crunchy, juicy and averaging 7 cm length and 5 cm diameter with 3-4 lobes.
