Yellow “bell” peppers are native to tropical America and have been growing for more than 9000 years in South and Central American civilizations. Introduced to Asia and Europe via Spanish & Portuguese explorers around 1493, since then new varieties are cultivated across the world.
All of the bell pepper varieties start green and turn to red or yellow or orange. Yellow bell peppers are crunchy, juicy and averaging 7 cm length and 5 cm diameter with 3-4 lobes. They are available year-round, with a peak season in the summer.
