Created by Josep Cuixart, in the village of Vilassar de Dalt, north of Barcelona in Cataluña, its name “Nevat” means “snowy” in Catalan dialect, a direct reference to its white bloomy rinlike Camembert, Brie de Meaux or Brillat-Savarin.
Nevat is produced with the milk of Murcia and Grenadine goats that nibble the Mediterranean scrubby lands near the coastline. The cheese reveals flavours of thyme, rosemary, and olive that comprise a large part of the goats’ diet.
Milky with a citrusy tang and an underlying sweetness, Petit Nevat will delight all the soft cheese lovers!
Wine Pairing:
White wines (Chenin Blanc, Pinot Gris, Muscadet)
Red wines (Bordeaux, Beaujolais, Pinot Noir, Porto)
Sparkling wines (Champagne, Prosecco)

Claud –
The rind smells a bit stinky. The cheese itself did not have special character.
Boothby –
Surprisingly nice
Paul C –
A very nice soft cheese with fresh slightly herbal notes.
Mary H. –
A delicious soft cheese and I’m glad to have given this a try. It reminds me a little of the Brillat-Savarin Affiné, just a tad drier.
