Piacentinu Ennese is a traditional Sicilian cheese from the province of Enna, known for its cylindrical shape and rind ranging from white to light yellow. Made from raw sheep’s milk, it is flavoured with wild saffron and black pepper, giving it a vibrant colour and a spicy, aromatic taste.
Despite the debated origin of its name, the most probable explanation is that Piacentinu derives from the Sicilian dialect, meaning “cheese that pleases (piace).”
Enjoy it with white or young red wines, quince paste, or grated on pasta.
Storage: Store refrigerated, wrapped in breathable cheese paper, and consume within a few weeks.
