Our Picodon is matured, and comes covered with a nice blue mold. Hence his name, Blueish Picodon!
Picodon is a small, firm raw goat’s cheese from the Ardèche. It takes its name from its organoleptic quality. ‘Piquer’, which means ‘pointu’ in French, is what Picodon must taste like. It has a lovely nutty bouquet with a sharp, goaty character. Dry like the scrubland of the South-East, ”la garrigue”, our Picodon comes from the Olivier de Serres farm. Olivier de Serres, a 16th century humanist, wrote many works on agriculture and initiated a new way of seeing it. He developed new crops such as self-elevating worms or mulberry cultivation which did not exist at that time. The Olivier de Serre estate has kept its name in tribute to its founder. Enjoy a Picodon with a glass of medium-bodied red wine.

The shape of the cheese was not held well

I enjoyed this chjeese, as suggested, with some champagne. It has quite a firm texture and a fairly classic goat cheese taste. To be honest I didn’t find the blue mould rind to add very much.
