Vinous: 90/100
With historical roots dating back to the Middle Ages as the noble house of Lagrange Monteil, Château Lagrange has left a trace of its various owners since 1631. A pivotal moment in 1842 occurred under the ownership of Count Duchâtel, former Minister of the Interior for King Louis-Philippe, who not only left an indelible mark on the estate but also played a key role in the drainage of the vines across Médoc. The vineyard, a contiguous expanse featuring two Günzian gravel ridges, now spans 118 hectares dedicated to vine cultivation.
The 2019 Fiefs de Lagrange presents an appealing aroma, blending red and black fruits, tobacco, and subtle earthy notes, with well-integrated oak. The palate, medium-bodied, features supple tannins that, while not overpowering, are defined, leading to an almost citrus-fresh finish.
This wine pairs exquisitely with red meats such as beef, pork, lamb, and veal, as well as robust hard cheeses like Comté, Mimolette, and Gruyère, enhancing the rich flavours and textures of both the wine and the dishes.
Food Pairing:
Red Meat (Beef, Pork, Lamb, Veal), Hard cheese (Comté, Mimolette, Gruyère)
