Heirloom Tomato is now in high season in France! Varying widely in size, shape, colour and taste, heirloom tomatoes differ in appearance from common tomatoes. Most are fragile, with few seeds, meaty flesh and thin skin. This thin skin, however, is what gives the tomato a higher sugar content and excellent taste.
Heirloom tomatoes are most often served fresh as simple preparation allows their intense, tomato flavour to come through.
Serve them as a salad with feta cheese, Kalamata olives and some slices of cucumber for a true Greek experience.
