Exclusively made by the Fromagerie de la Ribiere, a cheese making farm located in Saint-Jouvent, the Figou is a fig-shaped cheese made from raw goat milk. It hides a succulent fig marmalade that creates an explosion of sweet and sour flavour in the mouth.
The soft and melting white-ivory paste mixed with the fruity and flavourful fig jam makes the cheese a unique pairing.
This tiny goat cheese is perfect as a dessert along dry white wine!
Wine Pairing:
White wines (Pinot Grigio, Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc)

It’s good, but not as heavenly as what I expected.

I had a big expectation on this piece, however it melted even though it was stored in the fridge…

This is definitely an intersting cheese – the sweetness of the fig complements the goatiness rather well. I agree with Kimberley’s observation that this would go rather well in a salad. With wine on a cheese platter it requires something with some bite to offset the sweetness.

What a treat! I love goat cheese and this was even better with the figs. wasn’t too sweet either, just a touch of sweet. I do think this would be fantastic added to a salad and if I didn’t inhale it first I will definitely buy more than one next time!
