Comté cheese has been produced for a very long time. The first indications of this cheese date back more than 2000 years: it was much appreciated in Rome, especially by Julius Caesar. Nowadays, Comté has the highest production of all French AOC cheese, it is also one of our best sellers!
The Comté aged 12 months is still young: it expresses a delicate nutty taste and lactic notes while the texture is smooth and supple.
If you want to grate it to replace an Emmental and give a more pronounced flavour to your dishes, this Comté is perfect. It can also be enjoyed as an aperitif, very popular with children.
Can be stored in the fridge for up to 5 weeks. Take it out of the refrigerator an hour before serving it at the table to taste all its flavours.
Wine Pairing:
Red wine, especially Burgundy (Puligny Montrachet, Meursault)
Dry white wines (Chablis), Vin Jaune from Jura
