Weight: 200
Cheese Type: Uncooked, Pressed cheese
The earliest reference to Gouda cheese can be traced back to 1284, making it one of the world’s oldest documented cheeses still being crafted today. Interestingly, Gouda cheese takes its name from the city of Gouda not because it was originally made there, but necause it was traded there. In Dutch culture, cheesemaking was traditionally a role held by women, with farmers’ wives passing down their cheesemaking expertise to their daughters.
This Dutch Gouda is infused with small specks of black truffle, offering a flavour profile that is milder and less sweet than certain Gouda varieties, allowing the truffle to shine without being overshadowed. This uncooked pressed cow’s milk cheese also gets some fruity and caramelly notes.
Truffle Gouda is delicious on it’s own or shaved over pasta dishes, risottos and pizza. For the ultimate burger, try melting a few slices over the top!
Place it in the fridge, wrapped in cheese paper.
Wine Pairing:
Red wines (Cabernet Franc, Bordeaux)
White wines (Chardonnay, Grenache Blanc)

Raise the spirit of my Grass fed ribeye and make my burgundy worthwhile!

This is a firm favourite among a group of us. The truffle is subtle and pleasant on the pallet. It is great melted on toast or to boost a frozen pizza.
