Clemenvilla originated in 1942 in Florida, US from a cross between two fruits : Fina (a tangerine) and Orlando Tangelo (a little orange). FC Gardner and J Bellows were the plant breeders and their variety was officially released in 1964. The fruit is also known as Nova.
