While the distance between Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil and Bourgueil appelation is ridiculous, features of the former are more mineral and lighter in body than the latter.
Yannick Amirault took over the vines from his grandfather 30 years ago, and today with his son Benoit works 12 hectares in Bourgeuil and 7 in Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgeuil. The family are seriously talented in the cellar and not shy of trying new things – the new Malgagnes cuvée which ages in their special Jarres are testament to this.
This wine comes from the finest slopes of Saint-Nicolas de Bourgueil. The nose senses intense notes of red fruit with a touch of tobacco. The mouth is elegant and sophisticated with rich tannins.
The ageing in sandstone amphorae preserves the freshness of this great cuvée, and the best pairing on cooked meat dishes.
