This classic cheese is still handcrafted by Mauri from fresh Italian milk, and it has a longer aging period compared to the Dolce version. Salting, turning and packing are all handmade, just like they used to be in the past.
Gorgonzola Piccante (spicy) has a tougher paste than the Dolce version, with more intense and widespread marbling. It has a dense texture, firm but not dry, fragrant, but not off-putting. It is great on a cheese board with nuts and honey or as an ingredient in recipes. Delicious crumbled on top of a salad, as a sauce for pasta, and on a pizza. Gorgonzola Piccante pairs great with most Pinot Noir wines or the classic Barolo wine pairing. If you enjoy more piece-flavoured blues, Picante is the best option for you.
Store in the fridge and consume within a few weeks of purchasing for optimal freshness and flavour.

1 review for Gorgonzola Piccante
Paul C –
This is a rather nice gorgonzola – don’t be put off by the “piccante”: it’s not particularly sharp, just clearly blue cheese, and a rather nice one.
