Evolved prior to the 1960s, Languedoc shifted from livestock to vineyards due to its favorable climate. Here, Hans Walraven, a Dutch wine importer, settled, pursuing his Cabernet Sauvignon dream. In 2008, he retired, passing on the legacy to Bruno Le Breton. Together, they founded La Jasse wines, dedicated to crafting an annual ‘daily Grand Cru’ experience. Vieilles Vignes is the original housewine, a tradition Domaine de la Jasse upheld since 1995. This concept initially began as a daring experiment: cultivating Cabernet Sauvignon in limestone-rich soil, crafting it in the style of Medoc or Napa Valley wines, in the heart of Languedoc, Southern France.
The deep dark red robe with a black core unveils an opulent and vibrant bouquet of sweet blackcurrant, blackcurrant buds, and cherries, enhanced by hints of cedar and oak-derived vanilla. Luxurious and intensely fruity, this multi-layered wine possesses a silky, powerful, and enduring palate, offering a beautiful equilibrium and a splendid, velvety roundness.
