Gold Medal at the World Cheese Awards in 2018 & Best Traditional Cheddar at the 2019’s British Cheese Awards
Recent addition to the 4 classics Cheddar made in Somerset, Pitchfork Cheddar was created in 2017 by the Trethowan Brothers, Todd and Maugan. Paying tribute to the traditions, Pitchfork gots its name in reference to an old Cheddar making tool used to toss the curd while mixing in the salt. Covered in a lard-soaked muslin and matured to perfection for 12 months, Pitchfork reveals a golden-straw paste that melts in the mouth and offers powerful flavours. Moist and succulent, its sharp buttery and nutty aroma gives room to original exotic fruits hints on the palate. <,br>,This is a hand-made, artisan cheese, which may contain naturally occurring blue veins. These are normal and intrinsic to the nature of this type of cheese and add to its character. We think they taste good too!
Wine Pairing:
White wines (Pouilly-Fumé, Chasselas)
Red wines (Mercurey, Gevrey-Chambertin)
